For me 2 memories from the late seventies...
I used to see a bond bug all the time driving along and where I lived there was a mint green Lamborghini uracco on a drive.
I used to ride my bike to the Lamborghini and just stare at it !

My old man bought a 4.0 Daimler, and took me to Brands to see some Group C racing. Those two elements combined had me obsessed.

Sometime in the early '50s. I was 3-ish and my Dad had an Austin Seven that I can just about remember.

On the way to Sheffield as a 10 year old and we saw a red Ferrari on the way. I was smitten instantly.

My dad wasn't a car fan, but grandad had a vauxhall viva he loved and lightly upgraded back in the day. That's where my love of cars started

Nineties Top Gear. I grew up with Quentin Wilson, Jeremy Clarkson and Tony Mason. Sometimes Tiff Needell or a female presenter as well.

Mid 1970's, I was about 10. The bloke that lived 2 doors from us had a Maserati Bora, a Lotus Sunbeam, and Chevette HS.

This was on a normal housing estate where the typical car was a Mk1 Escort or Morris Marina, and not everyone had a car!

I also remember walking past a Superbird in London and being transfixed by the wing smile

Pretty much as soon as I could talk and walk.

My Dad bragged over the garden fence once that I could name pretty much any car that went past. Bloke next door was having none of it - and in those carefree times, we three strolled along our street to the main road at the end, where I named each and every one. Neighbour suitably impressed.

I was about 4 or 5.

My interest in Yank motors started when some bloke up out street (on my way to school) had a brand new Mustang Mach1. It was white, which may explain why I like white cars (despite owning predominantly blue ones - currently have 3 blue and one blue/white !)

I think mine started with matchbox cars and seeing Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches etc on the road when out and about and wanting to own/drive one. Drive anything in fact.

My father and brother are into football, but I'm not interested. I've always had time for cars.

I used to ask to watch Top Gear (original format) and would also be able to name cars. Something I remember my Dad's friend testing me on, much like the poster above.

I was already hooked on cars by the age of about 4 or 5 but was completely smitten when I first saw a metallic gold Sunbeam Alpine on a plinth outside a Rootes dealer on the walk to school in what must have been about 1963...

Just like this one cool

Apparently, my first word was, 'car'. I don't remember uttering it.

I can't pinpoint a particular thing or moment that got me interested in cars. I'm assured by my mother that the first word I could read was Ford, though I think it was perhaps more a case of recognising the blue badge. My father used to be a bus driver, his last job was driving a mini bus for Hogg Robinson, and he used to bring me home a Matchbox model car every weekend.
