Does anybody have any experience with any of these MB dealers v new car discounts and servicing ? Of course their sites report high levels of customer satisfaction but what's the real picture ? I'm looking to buy an SL500 2LOOK and have had a great offer from a Midlands dealer but I'm wondering if I buy there what kind of servicing I'd get locally (NE). Also has anybody managed to get a substantial new car discount from these dealers ?

I have found MB Newcastle to be pretty good when it comes to maintenance and repair. They have looked after my r129 exclusively for 12 years now and intermittently they look after my s124. My only qualification is that I find I have to push all the time to get past the mobile phone shop front of house and actually speak to a mechanic. The dealer principal is always interested, helpful and pleasant, too. They seem willing to discount their prices sharply for older stuff like mine.

They were very keen to sell me a s212 a while back and even seemed vaguely interested in obtaining one which I could bear to buy.

So on the whole I'd say that as car dealers go, they're better than average. But then that is a very low standard.
