Took some frozen chicken out of the freezer last night around 7pm, just checked it this morning and i don't think it will be thawed by this evening to cook, is it ok to take out out of the fridge and finish the thawing at room temp?

Yes, definitely ok. Thawing method is much less important than making sure it is cooked properly.

Most of the advice about thawing is designed to make sure people don't put chickens in the oven which are still frozen in the middle, and therefore end up being undercooked. This is avoidable simply by cooking using an internal meat thermometer, rather than relying solely on time calculations (like 20 mins per pound, etc).

Unless it's a blistering Summer's day I prefer to defrost at room temperature. I also take steaks, chops, sausages, etc. out of the fridge an hour or so before cooking so they're not chilled for cooking.

No pets roaming free? Dog snatched my pork pies in the past, couldn't believe it.
