Hi
In the process of dropping my CERBERA to a local competent garage for a body off chassis refurb. He deals mainly with old cars like Porsche, lotus,MG etc and a lot of kit cars. This will be the first cerbera he has done and looking forward to it,but he has asked to try and get some info which might make his job a little easier. The main question was how many hours would it take roughly etc.Has anyone had it done that they could share there details with me would be great.
Thanks Steve

Can't help with your question but how has he priced this job, or is it being done more of a favour.

It took me around 35 hours to get the body off and down to the bare chassis, however I'm sure that if I were to do it a second time I'd be a lot quicker - you might be cheaper getting someone that already knows exactly what he is doing - they will be a lot quicker, hence probably cheaper. If you really want this garage to do the car then you really should do some research so that you can give some good advise - the following is a good example of things to look at -http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=6&t=902489
I'd also recommend that you look at other things on the forum for what else to do while the body is off. There are lots of things that are a complete misery to do with the body on but becomes so much easier with it off - best of luck

You could send him the link to this video...

(and perhaps the Wheeler Dealers episode too)

I'd agree with MikeUFO, about 35 hours on my own, and on axle stands (no ramp) to get the body separated, and then another day to strip all the corners off of the chassis.

I used the guide by PH'er Luckyone. You could do a lot worse than keep a copy of this to hand:

I've kept a library of pics too, if there's anything your mechanic gets stuck on I'm sure we can help with or answer any questions.

Thanks guys you've been really helpful.I shall put all this to him.I know he can do the job,it's just useful to be able to give him this info.Where I live on the coast car has been outside for about 18 months, and although it had a cover you could still taste the salt on the car underneath.Never again have a nice garage.Once the work begins I'll post some pics thanks.
