Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with a company called P C Cook Car Transportation. They apparently offer a service (in this case selling a car for a woman in Italy) where a person trying to sell their vehicle hands it over to them and then they handle the sale, including delivery of the vehicle. I'm looking to purchase a 2008 fiat 500 for the grand total of 3400 pounds. You apparently just send them the cash via bank transfer, they deliver the car and you have two days to decide whether you want to keep the car or not. If not they offer a full refund. They are apparently endorsed or recommended by pistonheads,so I thought I'd ask you guys, as I smell a scam. Anybody got any experience with the company, or a similar one? Any help would be great.

Many thanks, Rob.

So you're handing over thousands before even getting to see a car in the metal.

No. Not scammy sounding at all. No sir. Not even a little bit.

Edited to add Pistonheads don't endorse anything like this. There's you're biggest clue.

Well, a quick Google for that company only brings up your initial post on here. In other words, take care!

I can't believe how many Scams there are now. I've had 2 suspicious e mails today. One from HMRC telling me that I had a £400 rebate due if I'd fill in my bank account details they'd process the payment immediately and another from E Bay saying that the needed my bank account details to verify my account. Luckily both were spotted but they had done a good job of making them look real.Bar stewards! Sorry for going OT

Doubt it. Start reading here PH fraud warnings

And don't you dare think that despite everyone telling you it's not legit, somehow you still know better smile

Flappylarynx can just send me the money.

He has more chance* of a Fiat 500 appearing at his door if he does than with this other lot.

  • I will buy a lottery ticket with £2 of his money and if I win, buy him said car.
So, winner all round then?

Sent the money, I got an email with a picture of a wooden spoon. Apparently this is all I'm receiving.....

Alright, alright. I've been blinded by wanting the car more than I wanted to see the obvious scam.... Haven't we all been there? To be fair to me and my stupid squelchy brain, the website has an in built online chat client where you can talk to a live 'advisor'. Its fairly slick on their part. Please warn all those that mention them about these swines.

Just to clarify, didn't send them the cash. And thanks for the quick responses, finally rationalising my brain. Go team pisheads!

Fiat 500? They are not exactly a rare car. Find one for sale near you, inspect it and if the car is a good 'un hand your cash over.

Why the hell would you send money off to a company in order to buy a mainstream car? Let me guess: it's really, really cheap and the deal is too good to be true?

No offence OP, but people like you are the reason scammers still try it on.

Edit: just read the OP's update. Glad you didn't get ripped off.

I assume he means a proper Fiat 500 and not one of the new ones.

Prefer the classic myself, but I don't think I'd fit in one, sadly.

They don't appear to have one, indeed this thread is top of the list when the alleged company name is entered into Google.
