Not sure if I am posting in the right place, I may look at a Dash cam and want to know PHers comments, not regarding legality or opinion on whether we should have them, but whether you have got one that is a reasonable cost and effective.
Thanks

I have an 0801 dash cam which I purchased in September 2014 for under £50 from Amazon and have no complaints whatsoever, I also have in the past purchased far more expensive Mi-Witness and Blackvue dash cams, which if I am honest, are not as good in terms of video quality and are substantially bigger in terms of physical size.
I've uploaded a few one minute video clips (100MB each) which provide an idea of the quality of the 0801 video footage in the daytime - nothing exciting to see, just general video footage:

I purchased my 0801 dash cam from Amazon, link is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IKEVSOU which came with a 16GB SD card which should be able to record 160 minutes before it overwrites the oldest footage. You can set this to record in one minute segments (100MB). Most older dash cams have an upper card limit of 32GB regardless of whether a larger card is fitted, though I believe the 0805 and most recently launched 0806 can handle even larger cards. The 0806 is still suffering from teething problems so I would wait a while whilst these faults are ironed out.
This dash cam has a small LCD screen to allow you to view what it is recording, after a minute or so the display switches off though it continues to record. One tip is to point the dash cam slightly downwards instead of towards the sky, otherwise you may find the video footage burned out as the dash cam compensates for the bright sky.
In the event that something happens you eject the card and copy the relevant video clip onto your PC or Mac. Video format is .MOV which can be played on QuickTime, VLC and a multitude of other video players.
The Mobius is one of the best cameras around with some excellent online reviews, but I've not tried it, and as far as I'm aware, it's not a true dash cam.
Do a search on YouTube for 'Techmoan' because he's done some fantastic video reviews of many dash cams and doesn't mince his words if the product is rubbish. Highly recommended.
