Having not worn a watch for 20 years, I bought myself a watch for Christmas. It was only a TW Steel but I liked the look and liked how it felt on my wrist - which was criteria enough for me (plus the shop assistant was enchanting).

I'm an addictive kind of person and have spent many an hour searching sites for my next watch!

Obviously I'm clueless, but like the look of some of the Squale pieces including the 1521 of which there seem to be a few about.

Here's one

My limited research would suggest some of the watches are built from NOS gear from a revived brand - the hoarder in me likes that idea!

Now, of course I want it to look and feel nice, but as I'm looking at spending maybe £500 on what might be watch #2 of several or spend its life in a drawer I thought I'd check with you more knowledgeable folk to see if I could do better as an introduction to automatics.

Any help appreciated.

If you like the look of it, and can get it landed for a good bit cheaper, then it'll be just as good an introduction as many.
As a brand, it means nothing to me personally, and as designs go – it doesn't do it for me, and most tend to look a bit stuck in time.

That said, if you don't fancy having to deal with importing and paying £15 to PF for paying the VAT on your behalf, you could look at Steinhart or Deep Blue as alternatives.

I'm keen on Squale up to and owning a Root Beer Y1545 for over 12 months but I flogged it on a few weeks back to grail fund and consolidate.
About the only thing that pisses me off is that if they dropped the "SQUALE" over the "SQUALE" on the dial it would be so much cleaner.
There's just no need for it twice !!
