I picked up a BMW X3 for the Mrs today, but it has one mis-matched tire, I am a stickler for having all 4 tyres matching. Being a I have only been in the UK for about 3 days now, I have no idea where to get tyres at for a good price. Is there a reliable chain store to go to or anything like that? (In the US we have discount tire stores everywhere)

Pistonheads are doing a special offer with Tyre Giant at the top of the General Gassing threads page. Some very good and competitive prices on the site.

Welcome to the UK!
Your profile still has you in the US.
Anyway depending on where you are in the UK this may or may not be useful but I always go to Martins Tyres in West End, Nr Bisley, Surrey because nobody has ever managed to match his prices.
Hope you get a good deal anyway.thumbup

You'll find things are a little different here!!

The chains here tend to be at the expensive end of the scale.

Not sure if this works for you, but if you want Michelin or Bridgestone, you could check out Costco, they are usually on par with the cheapest online retailers for these brands - they only do the two though!

If you check out Tyre Giant and some of the other online sellers - Blackcircles, Mytyres, Tyre-Shopper etc. to get a feel for the price of the tyre you want, I would suggest ringing around some local independent places and you'll probably find that their price is close to the online price. I've always found Costco or the local places prices good enough to make me not bother with an online seller.

For any more specific recommendations, I would suggest you ask around in your area.

Not all chains are expensive.

I found that for my wife's Outback, Halfords autocentre were as cheap as the cheapest online when you factor in fitting. Indy's here charge between £5 and £10 a corner for fitting
