I'm looking to undertake a bit of education to enhance my current skills in my role of an Account Manager for an Insurer as I want to get up in the world.

Part of my role is sales already but I figure you can never be too effective at sales skills and long term I'm looking to become more focused on sales in a new role.

Can anyone advise on some useful reading, books or websites etc. Preferably what people have read themselves and what they got out of it.

Thanks all

all learnt daw'n petticoat lane flogging ladies undies 3 for a fiver

I pick up some other good tips in the educational films 'boiler room' 'wolf of wall street' and 'Wall Street 1 & 2'

in all seriousness there must be some good books out there but I find it's very easy to spot someone trying a 'technique' on you?

Good point about techniques, it's not meant in that way!

Thanks all

'How To Win Friends And Influence People' is a surprisingly useful read.

It deals with relationship building, which is an often overlooked but very important part of sales.

I have a business development role rather than sales, but two books I've found helpful are Ferrazzi's marketing/networking book Never Eat Alone and another one Just Listen which is about negotiation.
