I hear that there is now a suggestion to discourage drunk driving by banning pub car parks.
Has any research been done as to where most drink drivers have got their alcohol? It would be interesting to see a breakdown as to how many in pubs, how many at events such as parties or weddings and how many at home.
I suspect it might be different for the 'extra half pint miscalculators' as opposed to those who habitually drive totally sloshed.

And where has this "suggestion" come from?
I'm told it was a remark made in an interview by someone involved in 'Advanced' motoring. So we're going by chinese whispers based on a memory of a potentially out-of-context remark by somebody who the media have played hunt-the-soundbite to find.
I'll stop panicking, if it's OK with you.

Thank you corporal Jones, but I've no idea why you were panicking, nobody else was. I just thought it would be interesting to know if there was a pattern to where drink drivers got themselves sloshed, it would be interesting even if nobody had suggested banning anything. So we're going by chinese whispers based on a memory of a potentially out-of-context remark by somebody who the media have played hunt-the-soundbite to find.

I've not done any research on it, but I can't see this measure having any impact at all, not least because you could always park round the corner and indeed, many persistent drink drivers do, so that the pub staff don't ring the police.
+1 Although it may be that the people whose house around the corner they park outside ring the police anyway

Haven't seen that van here for a long time now...
