Discussion

At first I thought it would be a nice to upgrade the tweeters but then started thinking why not do the whole lot? So I have a fell set of Burmester speaker on the way to me now.
Has anyone done it?

I want to keep it all OEM and I have managed to get a full set of Burmester speakers for next to nothing. A 2 amps will cost me £700 and I would think maybe £300 to fit everything.
So how did you get the Burmester speakers for next to nothing? I would be interesting the costs and time to make it happen. findtomdotcom said:

Got lucky on ebay, a full set removed from a newly delivered car.I ended up buying 2 sets and the first one was quite expensive lol but I will put it back on ebay.
So today I did the tweeters, quite a easy job and the difference in sound is night and day. This is a really cheap upgrade and quite easy to do.
I also removed the sub which took me around 45min without removing any trim at all. It was a bit of work but not too bad with a flexible screwdriver. Tomorrow I am going to try and put the new sub in but that is not going to be easy at all.

Thanks for this - a VERY interesting read - i got ripped off by an independent dealer selling me my car - advertised it with BOSE and delviered it with Standard and I didnt notice until after - luckily paid the depositon Credit card so i've put itin Mastercard's hands to sort out - if that doesnt work then I'll report to trading standards.
To the point I'm left with a standard car no up grade - I had looked at putting new tweeters in and an afermarket sub - would prefer to keep it OEM though. Is it possible to retro fit the Burmester sub. Reading the thread its obviously possible to change the tweeters - can any one advise on the sub? Regards Simmo

Simmo, the problem is that you are going to have to run the wiring from the PCM to the amplifier and then to the sub. However you have space under your dash to install the sub. I can imagine how bad your system is without a sub as I unplugged mine for a day and it was quite poor.
If you look here you can see the different between the standard system and the Bose.

I assuming you have a 991?
you can have my bose sub for £75 if you want it.
