Walkinshaw vs Wortec

After three years of Monaro ownership I've finally decided to give in and spend some money on a new exhaust.

My preference has always been Wortec but recently it occurred to me that I'd never really heard the Walkinshaw and I should probably get some more opinions before I hand over my hard earned cash.
I could only find a couple of videos of the Walkinshaw but to be honest they don't really do it justice, sounded a bit tame.

I know it's personal preference but I just wanted to hear your thoughts from being at meets and the like.

The problem you're going to have is comparing a Wortec to a Walkinshaw exhaust like for like, as each car seems to have different modular bits installed such as headers, cats etc. Some no cats, some high-flow cats, some OEM cats, long tube headers, short headers, custom made bespoke headers so on...

So, to help confuse matters further, he's a nasty vid of mine with Walkinshaw headers, high-flow cats, full exhaust system and wild cam (recorded pre S/C installation)

As I live in Northern Ireland I have only heard one other Monaro in the flesh and it had a full Wortec system.

I wanted the opinions of people who have heard both, perhaps even been in my situation and why they chose what they did.

That sounds awesome! Unfortunately though I have a wedding next year so a cat-back alone is already pushing it!

The video below is one of the only ones I've heard with a Walkinshaw cat-back but to be honest it doesnt sound much different to the standard exhaust. Maybe this is just a bad example?

I have the walkinshaw super car on mine and love it, i spent ages weighing up the walkinshaw wortec debate. Sorry to high jack your thread, but Im trying to figure out if i should get the headers and cats done, I just want it to be louder, but not sure how much of a difference the headers and cats will make

Well for my 2 pence worth, for a Monaro it has to be a Wortec but for a VXR8 it has to be a Walkinshaw, different cars, different systems......................;)

That's a good response as they do sound different. Wortec is more raspy and Walki in a deeper soud generally speaking. You could always get a system made up for less money and to suit yr ears.

....or just replace the centre box and resonators with an X pipe, and add cutouts further along the system.

I was the same as yourself being from norn Ireland and having only videos to listen to as to make up my mind.Went for wortec cat back system always on loud setting,the pops & bangs done it for me but i also have a k&n cone filter ( with heat shield) which also gives it a lovely sound.Fitted 3 years ago best mod done & wud fit again well worth it.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm going to stick with my original choice and buy the Wortec.

Ha, that's my old one. It was filmed using an old HTC desire, so didn't really help. It was certainly alot louder than standard.

I went on a PH run a few years back and met a guy with a Wortec system on his 'ro (Think his name was Keiran)

It sounded great, but it was very loud. I couldn't have got away with it, with the shifts i work, and street where i live. I would have been lynched by the neighbours.

I always preferred the look of the tail pipes on the wortec over the walkingshaw.
