Just a quick question for the knowledgeable to check i'm understanding something properly

If i was contibuting £200 per month to a pension that states a charge of '0.75% of the value of your regular contribution' that means they take £18 per year.

but if i had a pension with £50K in and contributing £200 per month that states a charge of 'Annual fund charge a percentage of your fund and taken each month at 0.5%' this means they take £12 each year.

Just a bit confused as in the second case it sounds like they work out the 0.5% from the £50k rather than my contribution each month?
