Experience with Hi Spec brake kits

Interested in peoples experience of the hispec kit, specifically the 283 kit.

I have the 283 kit ,they look a bit small under my 17" wheels ,should of gone for the 300 kit . They seem to work well but i can not feel any difference between the 283mm Hispec to the good old monster 887 888`s .The only advantage seems to be weight .

Once you add on better pads and grooved discs its starts getting expensive .

They do look good

Behind 17" rims Track day and summer wheels



Should of bought the 300mm kit They would of fitted behind 16" rims .

Hi Daz,

I suppose they do look a little small under the Team Dynamics wheels.

I'd love to buy a set of the TDs but I'm rapidly running out of cash on the rebuild.

I use them on the road but you can feel every road surface ,a bit kike a cheese grater .

The Federal tyres are cheap and the front wheels can be purchased cheap from fleabay ,I had the rears made .

Strange. I have the same Federals on 17 inch wheels and like them on the road.

What size wheels do you have Dave? The 283 disks suggest 15/16?
And what are you planning to use the car for?

Try a set of road tyres ,you will notice the difference .

Is that going to stop tyre feedback from different road surfaces .

When i fitted the Falkens they were like chalk and cheese .

Clearly not trying hard enough Daz - the two things that better brakes, a) better feel b) don't overheat

The Hi-Spec we have (admittedly a little more expensive than the 283 standard) - the 6 pot we have is incredibly progressive, and can take incredible amounts of beating when the 888/887 would have melted + faded.
