I'm planning on building a spare axle assembly for an upcoming remote event as I have been stranded before with a broken axle. I have a used 100mm and 108mm CV joint; however, the 108mm CV joint cage is in pieces. Other then the broken cage the CV joint internals looks fine. My plan is to source a replacement GKN cage. The CV joint is GKN.

Good idea, bad idea? Any recommendation?

If the cage is broken I would have to suspect the condition of the remaining parts.
New joints are not overly expensive so I would replace the whole joint.

^^^^^^^What Steve said, If the cage has broken there will be other damage.
I wouldn't chance it.

There are uprated ones available from Schwarz Performance and others (I can think of part of name but not sure).
