PRMIA courses, anyone had any experience?
Discussion
Been given the opportunity to go on the courses for the following
EXAM I: Finance Theory, Financial Instruments and Markets
EXAM II: Mathematical Foundations of Risk Measurement
EXAM III: Risk Management Practices
EXAM IV: Case Studies, PRMIA Standards of Best Practice, Conduct and Ethics, Bylaws
Has anyone got any experience of them?
Are they worth it, how time consuming are they (current workload very high) and what did you gain out of it?
Exam 1 is a walkthrough with my background on the following:
Securities and Investments
FSA regs (not relevant)
Exchange traded derivative administration
Risk is something I would like to review in depth, if not now, sometime in the next year or so want to know what the industry thinks of this course for someone like myself who specialises in Equities Trading platforms from a technology POV.
When I say specialise, I design and build them from the ground up, I already have the TRS/Funding trade platform at a large investment bank to my CV which 2 of us designed from scratch and implemented in 18 months, including a complex affirmation system for legal and the risk/calculation engine.
So if your eyes did not glaze over and you understood the above, any opinions?
