Has anybody any idea roughly how much typical garage labour is involved in dismantling a Griffith, replacing a (new) chassis, reassembling it with a new engine and getting it running properly?

I'm just trying to work out which bank I'll have to rob.

Historically this place was likely hold enough for a deposit for the work clicky

Sorry but you did make the reference to bank robbing first.

Thanks but the chassis has already been done. It's the cost for body off, engine and ancillaries fitted to new chassis, body back on, get running.

I'm looking at £3.5K plus the vodka, which is a bit steep in my book.

More helpfully (I hope); I do seem to recall it being written here somewhere fairly recently, that it was two days for two mechanics.
Can't remember which thread though.

£1500 for a body off Chassis refurb so lose the refurb cost and add the remaining labour costs for the engine etc

I think £3500 is about right, in fairness. It takes a long time!

I think that will be just for outriggers. Pay another 1500 for the whole chassis with ancillaries. VAT is the killer.

If centrals are charging 5500 for body off. For another 4000 get a full respray and full interior retrim with hood. How can they achieve this where a respray can set you back 2000-3000. Hood 500 so interior retrim 500 to 1000.?

1500 for a body-off outrigger job is still cheap, given the hours etc (unless you cut corners)

Always makes me chuckle how little people think goes into these jobs, and how cheap they should be. But then it's my living, so I'm probably over sensitive about it!

Thanks. It's easy to kid yourself it's just an overblown Meccano job!

Adrian at Central told me they bought all the leather and trim stuff for nothing when the factory went bust

Call them and ask. Then you'll have a definitive answer! There have been quite a few rebuild threads on here and there is a lot of labour and time involved 01329 220 755.

a grand for a full interior retrim is excellent value, I understand its part of the total refurb package which is 10k. A usual full retrim is in the region of 2-3 k

Welding only takes a short while its all the stripping cutting and prepping that takes time. 1500 is very good value for a body off repair.
