Corner weights and outriggers

Just a general question really.

When I had a bit of work done on the car recently the list of things done stated that the corner weights had been reset. Can anyone tell me what that involves and what difference it makes?

Also while I'm being a little dumb, can someone also tell me what outriggers are? I'm guessing they are the outer part of the chassis under the doors but I'm probably way out!

Yep outriggers are the section of chassis that are under the sill both sides.

Corner weights:- this is to do with setting up the height of the suspension at each corner (as i understand it). It is set so that each corner (wheel) exerts the same pressure on the ground (or as near as poss.) this means the chassis is balanced and will corner properly.

if this is not done you end up with a car that is a bit like a coffee table with one leg shorter than the others. But you cant just put a bit of folded paper under the leg.
