Hi all

I have a 2005 Vauxhall meriva and the electrics in the boot door have stopped working. I have checked the fuses but think it must be a connector or wire that's dodgy. Does anybody know if there is somewhere all the boot door electrics are connected to?

Cheers

Generally the boot door electrical wiring passes through a rubber boot between the door and the main body, then to a multiplug connection down by one of the rear light clusters, can't remember which one, it could be a problem anywhere in that run of wiring.

Cheers I will have a look. They all stopped when I changed the boot struts. They are exactly the same length but put the boot up loads faster so hoping it's just pulled something loose. The rubber tube they goes between the boot and the car feels like the left one has more in it than the other

The one with the most in will be wiring, the other will have maybe just the washer tube for the rear wash wipe.

Have you removed the tailgate panel to access the inside to check connections there, if something has pulled off by raising the tailgate too high it will be in there and not the body that is a fixed position.

Do you mean the plastic from the inside of the boot? I was going to remove that the other night but didn't get chance, I will try there first, hoping it's just pulled something out and not damaged anything.

Hi, Bit of an update,

i took the panel off the inside of the boot to see if anything had come loose and to check the voltages. Nothing was lose, and when i put a multimeter on the connections to the rear wiper there was just under 12v on the black and brown wires all the time the ignition was on, think the third wire was blue and it had no voltage anything even when the read wiper was turned on from the stick near the steering wheel.

currently the center break light, rear wiper and heated window don't work, i am not 100% sure if the center brake light was working before, it had just had an MOT so assuming it did but not certain,

any ideas for the next step will be fantastic,

Thank you

checked that i could hear the relay working and i can hear it clicking when i turn the switch for the rear wiper on which rules that out

Not a Meriva, but I could not open the boot on my year old Zafira last week, took it in under warranty and they fixed it. Could be contacts want cleaning, (water ingress) or new actuator....

Google Zafira boot problems, there's loads going back to 2006........

Don't know whether this applies to Meriva's though.......

Checked the fuses for the rear wiper and heated screen? If they are ok then need to trace back from the tailgate, find the multi block connection in one of the side panels in the boot area, to trace voltage into the tailgate on those two system's.

generally these type of problems are down to the wires breaking due to the flexing in the rubber boot between the car body and tailgate, if it uses this type of arrangement.

Possible if both heated screen and rear wiper share a common earth point, used to see lots of cars with flashing brake lights when the indicator was on due to a bad earth.

cheers all for the input.

I have checked the fuses for the rear wiper and the heated window, both are fine. i checked the connection in the door compartment and they are all solid.

For the block connector thats behind the lights, i haven't found this yet, is this a case of taking the light unit out or removing the internal panels? if its removing the internal panels whats the best way to do this with out breaking things? what colour wire is the ground likely to be?

would the center break light use the same ground?

many thanks all

Of the two rubber tubes that go between the tailgate and the roof of the body, I believe its the left hand one that has the wiper and heated screen wires in, release the rubber from both the hatch and the roof and check the wires for breakages as they pass through.
