Plenum removal

Gentlemen
You have probably been here before, but I have a set of the ACT carbon flare trumpets to fit, which involves taking off the plenum. I have read many stories that I have to bend the mesh at the base of the windscreen to get the plenum off, which I suspect will permanently buckle said mesh. Is this inevitable, or is there a way to do this with minimum damage?

Go at it gentle and the grill/ mesh will flex
There's a lot of movement before you have to start bending

As above, it comes off quite easily.

The above, and make sure you use the correct adhesive for those trumpets and the surfaces are both clean and oil free.

Many thanks, will be gentle and also spread the load on the mesh.
Interesting comment on the adhesive, as I have the ACT adhesive which is just a rapid set araldite from Radio Spares. Should I be using something better?
With regards to the cleanliness I use acetone, plus I will slightly abrade the surface. A job that will be started next weekend all being well.

Peeps, Plenum and manifold came of easy, however removing the trumpets is not as easy as the ACT instructions. They are very reluctant to prise out. I have the base in the vice and a 1 foot 35 mm bar. All that happens is the base moves in the vice. Thoughts please, is it worth a gas torch to warm things up. Should I crush them. never to be used again?

PS Don't suggest the oven, as her indoors may blow a gasket!!!!!

I used a plumbers blow torch, it's better than putting them in the oven as some suggest.

Is most of the gunge RTV?

How did they break the trumpets, trying to get them all to go in together or trying to prise them out?

That`s how the guy found them when he removed the plenum . He had a rattle .

What is the mesh there for?; it doesnt stop the rain running off the screen and into the valley gasket and other engine parts, it doesnt hold the wipers in place, has it any use?

Gentlemen, many thanks for the advice to use heat, 30 mins with a BOC porta pack and they are out. Manifold now cooling off, will be back in the workshop later to clean up and trial fit.

Preventing leaves and rubbish etc from entering the engine bay, that's left to the bonnet vents

Also fi isles off the gap between the bonnet and screen
