Hi All

Looking to purchase a Ferrari California within the next few weeks and wanted some advice from those in the know. Budget is around £95000, ideally in Tour De France blue.

Are there any known faults with these cars to look out for when purchasing? What about desirable options? The only one I can think of is magride?

Also do Ferrari do a used car inspection if I wanted to buy a car privately and how much does this cost?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

can't help you the cali, but Ferrari does a 190 (i think) point check, which should be useful to you

Apparently the revised California 30 was much improved over the first iteration. If you can stretch for that one it might be the better option. Just not sure 95k will get you there but with the new one hitting the dealers now maybe you have a chance ?

I had a first edition Cali and a Cali 30. To be honest, the difference wasn't massive. Noticeable, but not huge.
Great car. Only issues I ever had were very minor electrical glitches.
Turn it off and back on again to solve those!

Check the first registration date - registrations after 16 March 2011 (?) should include the 7 year service pack which is prob worth ~700 a year for its remainder.

Check all switchgear for "sticky" gunk. All Ferraris will develop it at some time because they haven't changed the finish from 355 era cars.

The +2 was a popular option for the rear seats. The hifi is rather poor even when the upgraded version is chosen. Check for ipod cable if you use one - it was an option. There is a USB port on the nav screen.

Cruise, dimming interior and exterior mirrors, turning headlamps, TPMS (depending on year), parking sensors, camera, magnaride were all options. If the car has carbon seats - do sit in them for a bit to see if they work for you. They came in S/M/L although majority went for L. Internet folklore suggests cars without the shields on the front wings are unsellable. Steering wheel LEDs were optional.

Other than that, usual 2nd hand car purchase diligence - all panels for dents / scratches, windscreen for chips, alloys for kerb rash, interior leather for scuffs, service history, paperwork.

Car should come with 2 keys, 2 tracker fobs, 1 code card, 1 battery maintainer and 1 indoor cover (comprises car cover, steering wheel cover and 2 seat covers).

I had an early Cali, it was brilliant, usable & reliable... Go for it...

I agree like carpov I owned both..
A great car.
Unlike the 458 which you feel you have to drive banzai all the time , the Cali' is a car you can ,but don't feel you have to !
