I'm replacing my 2007 Mac mini and slightly changing audio/multiroom setup at the same time.

  • What's the best way to share the audio output of the mac between an hifi amp and my multiroom controller/amp? Up to now I used a simple 3.5mm splitter jack but am wondering if there's a better way (active?).
  • The mac will be positioned in the hifi rack so a short cable to the hifi amp but there's a bog standard 10m screened cable to the multiroom controller.
Would it be better to use audio over CAT5 instead?

Thanks

Not really smile

Just use good quality cables.

Look at VDC Trading.

Heh,heh, thanks for the definitive answer biggrin

Had a look about and it's confirmed that the Y cable option should be ok as you hint.

I'll keep things as they are for the time being then.

Only other option I can think is if one of the receiver thingeys accepts an optical or coax input and you can get your Pc to kick out both digital and standard audio out at same time
