I bought a golf gti edition 30 about 2 weeks ago from a independent dealer. Since I have had the car found a few worrying problems with it. The rear right caliper is sticking and the front discs and pads are squealing really bad a friend had a look and said one off the discs has had it. Also I have noticed a knocking from the gearbox that sounds like a release bearing or input bearing also there is a high pitched whistle coming from the engine under under boost which I guess could be the turbo giving in or a diverter valve. I bought It about 30 miles away from my house and they won't look at it till wednesday I am guessing they will try blag me off as they were not very helpful on the phone. I have not drove it much what rights do I have If I am not happy with the car?

Caliper are quite common on Golf GTI models I have found. If the discs are shagged then they need replacing but ultimately whats the cost of discs or pads?

I would double check the gearbox with someone else independently so you don't get fobbed off and be firm, polite but don't be pushed around.

I like the idea of the edition 30 hopefully you can get on with enjoying it after these issues have been fixed.
