i have fitted a new thermostat (there wasn't one fitted) and drilled a small hole in it to help to stop airlocks.
I have flushed heater mattrix but it doesn't give out much heat.
The fan works and blows air into the cabin but is only slightly warm.
Maybe i need to adjust the deflecter flaps in the heater box
does someone have some ideas

If the thermostat opens at too low a temperature, it may not be allowing the engine to come up to temp. Which one did you use?

Best regards,
Bernard.

i fitted a thermostat from DG thermo stat 3.0L V6 (i think 88°C).
Maybe i will fit a bleed in hose going to top of heater to be sure of no airlock

You do not say which radiator version you are running...I fail to understand why you drilling perfectly good thermostats and you being concerned with airlocks. IF you are running a upright radiator then it MUST be 3 row core (look inside) trying to control the engine temps on a upright radiator with the standard core is impossible.
The inlet pipe under the thermostat is prone to rusting and closing up, check that this is open, to allow flow to the heater matrix and back flush both the carb choke and matrix, as this is a fully open system the flap within the air box and it being closed to ANY cold air that might bypass the matrix, the sponge that is glued on there IS critical to getting good heat.

thanks Adrian,
i have a rad at the front 1978. I will check the condition of flaps to see if they operate and seal correctly. I will also check to see if connection Under the thermostat to carb is clear.

Front...as in cross-flow OR as in front of the engine?
