Just filled up with Shell optimax, it really does seem to make things quiter, smoother and more powerful.

I usually fill up with BP Superplus unleaded, which i had assumed would be the same as Shell. But Shell does seems better.

Is there a difference ? or is it just wishfull thinking.

If tere is a difference, how do a get Shell to Build a Petrol station within 10 miles of my house. the nearest is 25 miles away, Ahhh!

The only time I can really tell a difference with optimax is when starting from cold. It definitely starts and idles better. Once the car warms up though I can't really tell any difference.

... Or you could just stick some octane booster in the tank when running it on anything less than Optimax.

Actually, if you do that, you could get the ignition advance wound back while you're at it and gain a few BHP into the bargain...
