Hi,

I have just bought a 2008 Fiat Bravo TJet with 57000 miles on it. I don't have enough money to change timing belt till end of month. Would it be risky to drive it?

Thanks.

Worst case: one less Fiat Bravo.

Every time a belt has failed, for me it's after the car has been sat for a while then used for the first time, usually when coming back from a long holiday

So based on that you are probably at as much risk of it breaking whether you use it or not

Take it easy I guess

Were you thinking of changing the timing belt yourself where the car's sat now?

No mate, I would have to drive it home from the seller. Just thinking about maybe not using it for the month but not sure if I am being too cautious.

Just borrow from the family or close friends. wink
Assuming credit card is maxed out/unavailable.

Nothing such as too cautious. Is it worth losing the engine?

No this is my thinking. I'll probably either borrow money (which i hate doing) or not drive it. I have access to another car anyway.

You should be fine to drive it for a while. I had several cheap cars go way past their interval and I'm yet to have one snap on me.
If you can see the belt with out having to remove covers or anything then just check for any obvious sign of wear or ageing I.e cracking etc.
