New guidance was issued last week to encourage councils to introduce 20mph limits near schools, in residential areas and in other areas with significant pedestrian or cyclist activity.
Perhaps the highlighted above just goes to show that these safety measures on the kingsway are nothing more that a revenue raising exercise....?

I have a supply of red flags to assist with the current slow down in traffic speeds in Scotland. Strange that with cars becoming safer and quicker, the powers that be deem they should go slower - or is there cash to be reamed from the motorist? I well remember national speed limits applying on the roads mentioned, and since the crossovers were closed on the Kingsway (years ago) there have been very little in the way of accidents. In fact, in my 30 years in the Fire Service in Dundee, I really can't remember many incidents on the Kingsway or indeed Riverside.
Part of the problem is that pedestrians don't seem to observe the correct etiquette these days - I won't use my car on the pavement, so peds please don't use the road - especially a dual carriageway.
