Oil filter help

I finally got around to changing the oil pump base (4.6 pre serp) for one I bought ages ago.
Went to put the filter back on and it doesn't fit as the new base has a larger thread.
Not sure on the actual thread but I measured them and the original was 18mm (whole diameter in the oil filter), the new base is 20mm.
I've been to a couple of motor factors and all the filters they stock which were listed for RV8's were 18mm?
Any ideas what I will need.
I don't know what car the oil pump base is actually from? It was new old stock and I can't remember where I got it from to ask?

OK so i've done some more looking online.
The pre 1976 Rover V8 and Land Rover Engines had 13/16 UNF Oil Filter opposed to 3/4 on the later models.

Same as Ford 3/4
