Silverstone f1 - Friday practice

Thinking of going to silverstone this year but just Friday.

I don't fancy getting their at 6am and rushing for a spot.

I like the freedom you get on GT races and special events where you can wander anywhere.

What's Friday practice like? Will I still have to get their early and queue? Or can I turn up about 9-9:30 and get parked up and straight in?

Can you still wander around and sit in most grandstands on the Friday general admission?

Friday isn't as bad as Saturday or Sunday but it's still quite busy so give yourself a couple of extra hours to get there. Once inside it's very easy to move around and all the grandstands are open. Only downside is if it rains then the cars won't come out which can be very frustrating.
