Websites to find roads via road number?

Are there any websites which allow you to type in a road name/number and for it to be highlighted on a map? (without typing in the start and end points, which aren't always known)

I'm specifically looking to do this for roads in the south of France

Problem with French road numbering is that it isn't necessarily unique.

A- (Autoroute) are, obviously. But there aren't many N- (National) roads now, which would have been nationally uniquely numbered - they're mainly downgraded to D- (Departmental), and each department (county, effectively) numbers their own roads. C- (Communal) are even lower-level numbering, basically parish council.

Google maps is pretty good at working out road numbers, just specify which country.

E.g. don't just put "D538", instead put "D538, France".
