Hi there,
has anyone a list of suspension bolt/washer sizes and fitting details, please?

My 'project' was acquired almost completely stripped and where the front had been partially reassembled, the bolts appeared the wrong length and spring washers/locktabs were inconsistently used.

I understand the front uprights are Herald and use spring washers to assemble the caliper brackets to the hubs and no nuts are used, whereas TR6 uprights use locktabs on other TVRs?

The rear suspension looks more straightforward, but details of bolt sizes/torques and washers/spacers would be very useful.
The rear is currently single-damper/spring per side.

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers - Simon

Hi Simon, I'm in exactly the same situation as you with my Vixen 2500 restoration. I've sourced suspension bushes according to the information here http://www.zen11896.zen.co.uk/vixen/parts/rear_sus... and am in the process of sourcing bolts to suit. So far, the smaller diameter bolts (front and rear wishbones) and the slightly larger one through the trunnions are the ones used on the Herald front suspension. The bolts through the tie rods at the rear are the same as the ones that go through the GT6 lower wishbone (rotoflex car) and i believe the ones through the top of the rear upright are the same. I'm using flat washers of a suitable diameter and nyloc nuts. I gather from other threads that there are some spacers needed on the pivot shaft on the bottom of the rear uprights, I'll have to measure and machine some up I think.

Good luck!

Just a reminder that the bolts are all imperial threaded (UNF) not metric, and I think most of them are 3/8 UNF which is the 9/16 spanner size, with nyloc nuts and standard plain washers.

I just remembered that the shocker bolts may be the next size up, not sure....

As far as I know, all the Triumph models which used that caliper, (PB16) also used locktabs on the bolt heads, but could be wrong on that one. The Herald did NOT use that caliper, but the bigger engine Vitesse did.
The Vixens use a herald upright with a TR6 stub axle, which is why they have that odd spacer on the inside of the upright.

At the rear, my S3 simply had several plain washers between shocker and carrier, and a single washer between the other components, and nylocs again.

Yes, I think all the bolts, apart from the main threaded rod through the hub carrier, are the same as the Triumph GT6/Vitesse equivalent ones.

I am just putting the complete package together (and have done one recently for another customer) if anyone needs help (also having done it recently for my own S3).

PS the information on the SAB935 suspension bush in the Zen list is incorrect.
