that looks like a nice project for a day in the garage, just the thing when stuck waiting for music/dance lessons to finish when I am the designated taxi service.

I'd rather glue the cup and the laptop to it and drive around purely to annoy these s with cameras on bikes.

Whilst I'm not generally a fan of "cyclocops" and "cyclovigilantes", is it any wonder that cyclists use cameras when our "fellow motorists" engage in world class acts of f^&*wittery?

If the police find that driver and punish him, then I think the camera was a good thing.

This is what can happen if you watch films on your laptop while driving frown

I commuted from Telford to Coventry on a motorbike for 12 months a small cross section of idiots would be...

Reading a book
Applying make up
Styling hair
Reading a4 notes
Reading a paper
Shaving

Thankfully all this was before laptops/DVDs

The summer commuting gave some far more interesting sights though on hot days smile

This is going to become a bigger and bigger issue as people get ever more obsessed with 'staying in touch'.

Potentially worse than drink driving, at least a drunk is generally looking through the windscreen.

Needs stamping on very hard - three year ban.

Worse than drink driving but dependnant on how pissed you are of course.

I think the mobile use should be punished without question however can anyone prove what the laptop was doing? Was it just playing music?

I heard some pompus arse on the radio saying driving with head phones was dangerous and should also be illegal, do you need to have good hearing for the test or any at all? Seems like a bad news day and a load of tts blowing it out of proportion.

Whether deaf people can drive is irrelevant. As a person with functioning hearing, why would you deliberately disable one of your senses when driving?

The problem is not pompus arses phoning radio shows, it's the retards that think this is a perfectly good idea.

I think 'retards' is a bit strong but then I forgot, everything is so black and white on here just lately.
Ear buds hardly make any difference to your hearing, except when a call comes in but then is there any or much difference to having the car radio on ? And what volume would you consider deliberately disabling one of your senses.

Oh and, HANDS UP, who has worn sunglasses when driving. Actually, I don't like to because I feel they reduce my visibility. I certainly don't think the millions that do are retards, only some of them.

Sunglasses IMPROVE visibility in strong sunlight rolleyes

If there is no difference between having headphones/earbuds and having the radio on, why not just put the radio on?

They remove glare but putting darkened lenses in front of your eyes reduces input.
If there is no difference, it doesn't matter.

I agree with your point about disabling senses, but as with everything there is a point to which its OK and a point beyond thats not OK.
As I posted earlier, a whole family of 6 wiped out on the M6 because someone was watching a film on his laptop is very much a point beyond.

I fully agree that its a reduction in the senses but you missed the point completely, feel a little sorry for you.

The point I was making is that the only thing he was "definitely" doing wrong was the phone and who are we to place judgment on the other points without any actual proof? The phone is black and white the headphones and laptop was not, you do not know what was on the laptop, it could have been a screensaver from him stopping at a lay by previously and the headphones a hands free. Instead "we"instantly jump to a dreadful conclusion we wish to believe. Im glad/hoping none of the above posters are judges!

I most certainly do not condone this, I even find it hard to believe. The guy was caught and has been charged never heard for what exactly but most worryingly he was in his forties! I can understand a teen being immature but this is ridiculous.

I have had my laptop out in the car before while driving.

I was using the TomTom app on my phone while in a hire car and the battery was almost dead so I had to use my laptop to charge the phone (due to hire cars lack of usb socket).

honestly woman at my work brags she does her make up on the drive into work.

What got me was new series of police interceptors with a woman with a 3 year old curled up in the front footwell due to the boot back seats being down and full of bird cages and a bike.

She asked the police if it had always been illegal to have a 3rd old in a footwell, !!! Some people!
