Patriot vs freelander 1
Discussion
Hey guys.
Probably bias putting it in the LR section but not sure where was best to put it.
I am looking at getting a small 4x4 for the missus for around 4-4.5k. She does 60 mile commute so mpg is a big issue, I know these are not the most economical vehicle but she likes height and we need a 4x4 option for fields and snow etc due to the routes she uses etc etc anyway it's needed.
So was looking at diesels under 100k miles with fsh so was thinking between:
Jeep patriot with the vw pd138 diesel
Freelander 1 td4.
I like both, freelander has the better forum which I like but patriot has lower tax band, better mpg and newer car.
Any owner views on either?
Or the 2.2 rav4 but I don't like the looks as much as the other 2
Cheers

I have had both a Freelander HSE 2004 and Jeep Patriot 2011.
Both behaved very well without any major problems and both look great.
Preferred the look of the Freelander. Small design issue for me was that when folding down the back seats everything is not flat for loading. Car was written off after a no-fault accident.
My Patriot with Mercedes engine could do up to 50MPG - great for a true 4x4. Before 2011 they have a VW engine. Recently traded it in for a Wrangler for more fun.
