Removing fuel rail

Is there anything I need to be aware of or is it just a case of removing the bolts and lifting it out.

I need to get my alternator repaired/replaced so will have to spend a couple of hours whipping it out.

Be careful to not damage the injector o-rings, but apart from that, its a straightfoward removal.
Just in case of loose vapours, kill the cigarette first! (a friend learnt this the hard way! and lost an eyebrow!)

Putting it back in can be tricky, use some soluble grease around the rings to assist.

Stopped smoking 5 months ago so that shouldn't be a problem.

Alternator, as long as you can get at the sliding bolt on the front with the right tool, loosen it, drop the alternator a bit, and the belt should slip straight off, and then continue to remove the bolt and you should have the alternator out no sweat, a little bit of WD40 might come in handy, the thing gets pretty hot and seals up against the bracket. You're talking about 15 mins tops.

30 mins in all to take the thing out in addition to other nicks and nacks that need coming off.

I believe Joolz has the record for quickest alternator removal... 5 mins I heard????

It's just the regulator that's gone so hopefully an auto electrician should be able to sort it out once I give it to him.

Got the alternator out. No wonder Joolz is so quick, he's got the hands of a small child. Biggest problem is trying to work between the alternator and A/C compressor. No major traumas except for dropping a bolt in the V. I'll have to get the mounting plate out tomorrow to see where it went to.

Oh well, hopefully back on the road in a couple of days.
