anyone have 3.23 gears in their diff?
Discussion
Talked to Reid at Grantura Eng. about parts for the BTR 3.45 diff (seals/bearings etc) and he told me about new pinion and gear set coming in from aussie in 6 weeks. He told me he would get 3.23 gears, and I thought that might help on the motorway cruise! Have anyone done similar and has it affected acceleration much?
3.23 is 6.5% different from standard... if theres a 3.08 that would be 11%

I would say the 3.45 does 2700rpm at 70mph , the 3.23 would be around 2500 rpm at 70mph and the 3.08 more like 2400rpm
If you don`t have 300hp i wold not go the for 3.08 ,both the the ratios are available on fleabay from Australia .
I can`t decide if the go for the 3.23 or the 3.08 .One thing i do know is i hate the 3.45 after having the GKN 3.31 .

my new engine will have around 300hp, I think the 3.23 is a good compromise to get good acceleration and ok cruise speed. Do you know what or diff parts are taken from? Borg warner / BTR, holden/ford, m75,76 or 78?? It says 3.45 and R0076 on the tag on my diff
7.750 fleabay seller surplusdgEdited by SILICONEKID345HP on Monday 9th February 22:30
I found the seller but there was no lstings... I might just buy it from Grantura when they get them. Then I'm sure its the correct one, plus he has the knowledge on how to set it up correctly. He probably buys in bulk so shipping is cheaper for him, and with my company I can buy without VAT...

I've got 3.08 I don't have a problem with acceleration
Twin Turbo ,no wonder .
Derek is the man to give you the run down on the 3.08 ,he only has about 301.5hp N/A and seems the find the 3.08 fine for such low power

I would like to drive Dereks car to make my mind up ether to go for the 3.23 or 3.08 ...

I had 329 last time i checked.
As you may know i like to partake in the odd 1/4 mile event. I can report that the car has not suffered any in acceleration since changing from a 3.45 to a 3.08:1 diff.
I think that for most of our cars with the power to weight ratio and healthy torque curves that we can get away with longer legs. I honestly believe that when you drive a car with a high ratio diff its just an illusion that you are accelerating quicker because the car will rev faster in gear. Where as a 3.45:1 car will be grabbing third at 60mph i will still be accelerating as fast but to 70+ before my gearchange.

That must be doing over 3000 rpm at 70mph . You will be changing gear quickly . Derek has tested his 3.08 and it is not any slower .
no idea yet not run the car... its the diff out of the Tuscan racer that was going spare so I've bunged it in the chim to see what its like..The tuscan was running a 3.3 gkn but I've got that out to refresh it and borrowed the 3:45 from the chim as thats just had a full refresh to TC spec.
I then had the 3.7 refurbed and ive bunged that in the chim the lsd action might be a bit tight for a road car but we'll see.
i started off with the 3.7 in the tuscan but it was a bit low, so tried the 3.3 which does have less punch but added 10 mph at snett..

Sorry Derek just having a bit of fun ! The bit what bothers me is when you put your foot down it may not pick up so quick ,less responsive ,that would destroy the fun of the TVR .I had 329 last time i checked.
