Some shaking from front when I brake?

It has just started on my VXR8, some shaking when I brake.

I'm wondering if pads are low. The outside ones that are visible look to have about 5 mm of material and I can't see the inner pads.

Any suggestions as to how many miles pads and disca may last on a daily drive (I'm guessing this is diffcult to to answer)?

I've got some judder under braking (common with daily drivers which doesn't involve much heavy braking I believe?) I've tried the heavy braking from speed to see if it clears it to no avail. Booked in at AAS for two weeks time for a service and check the brakes out.

ABS or warped brake discs.

First port of call should always be to go through a Normal Bed-in routine. 7-8 stops in quick succession from 60-70 down to walking pace . Do NOT come to a complete stop.

If that doesn't cure things - move onto replacing bits.

I'd suggest a brake disc skim as this will be cheaper than replacement discs if they are not worn. Having the same issues with my Monaro with APs and will be looking to get them skimmed at some point.

I'm thinking it could be discs and pads - they have done many mles now!! :-(

How much are a set of front discs and pads? Where is a good source, the last set were a small group buy from Oz.

I usually get service from Monkfish, but work has restricted my available time to visit them.

I think the problem is solved.

Yesterday I took the car to a tyre place local to my work who kindly removed both front wheels to allow me to inspect the discs and pads.

The pads had about 1/3 remaining and the discs were clean and shiny and all looked good to me.

So, confident that I wasn't going to do damage by braking I performed some repetitive firm braking during the evening commute mainly on M11.

Brakes feel fine now :-)
