Mark- If you haven't joined yet, you may want to check the Aston Martin forum at 6speedonline.com . You'll find an active U.S.-based community there.

Congratulations MARKNY...welcome to the exclusive club!
Would be interesting to see how the car is affected by the combination of bad weather in winter and hot weather in summer in NY, in terms of reliability, affect on paint and general condition of the car. I used to leave my car out in winter when on business. There were no problems starting, though I had to leave it a few minutes to demist the front screen from ice.
As others have said, it is better to use the car daily than infrequently (I now use the car infrequently so I can see what they mean).

As they say in the USA...ENJOY :-)

And of course there is the unofficial Forum rule... no photographs and it didn't happen!

Any excuse, but here's a photo of the Ultimate cover. I have been very please with it. Excellent fit but it has now faded to a light grey after a lot of time in the sun.... well, some English sun! There are some other very good manufacturers and my only tip is that the car needs to be pretty clean before you put it on.

JimboA - one question, is there any chance of scraping the paintwork whilst putting it on/ taking it off? Maybe there are plastic clips that can come into contact with paint...

There are 2 straps that run under the car and they clip into the other side. The receiving clips are recessed into the cover and are fully protected from the paintwork – so no issue in scratching as you put the cover on. It is quite bulky and while it will easily fit into the trunk, you would probably want to have somewhere to put it if it’s wet – though it does come with a carry/storage bag. I have kept my car under it through all weathers and it has worked a charm. There are people who don’t like using covers and claim that it leaves scratches. I keep the car polished and don’t put a cover on if the car is caked in mud. The result is that it looks immaculate when I reveal… no scratches and it’s about as clean as I left it. A top tip is to have some detailing spray to give it a light wipe over when you take the cover off and if you want it to look its very best and bring the shine up I reckon it takes 3 mins to put on as I have now mastered it – the fit is great. The only negative is that when it was really windy, 60 mph plus, the front of the cover did lift to uncover the hood. I can live with that until I get a garage!!! Please note the “Americanized” language… we all know that Astons only really have a bonnet and a boot!!! Enjoy the car and I am sure you will be delighted with it.

Thank you and that’s one of the reasons I went for an OEM cover. Mind you, it still doesn’t stop people asking me if there’s really an Aston under there… Perhaps they think it’s cardboard boxes – reminiscent of Joey and the Ferrari in that Friends episode!

The AM covers are brilliant and they're almost as sexy as what's underneath. The only question I'd have is whether a more anonymous cover is a better idea for a car that lives "on display" in a public area. The AM cover almost begs people to pay attention to it!

Hi Mark, I too purchased a damaged DB9 about 3 years ago. I did most of the repair work myself, but was able to get much needed advice from several sources. I'm located in New England and know of several good repair shops in my area. In New York the only place that comes to mind is Autosport Designs Hampton Station, NY and ask for Tom. If he can't help he'll know someone that can.

If you need additional information drop me a line .... Nautor_Swan@cox.net

Best of luck with your new purchase,

Jack
