993 driving tipped to rise again in 2015

Every year I tell myself that I will drive to Germany and make that one lap of the ring I've long fancied. Every year I reAd stories of carnage at the ring on tourist days and cost of attending track days at £700 plus. I don't want unlimited laps. I don't want to hire a car. I want to take my car round, once, at about 6 tenths.
If someone wants the chore of organising and can cost this out at a vaguely justifiable level I'm in. In return I offer my sparkling patter and divisive personality.

Been thinking the same thing for the last 15 years. I drive 'Hollywood Style' (arm out of window etc) so I won't be going for any records.It aint difficult to organise. Book a hotel in Adenau, book a ferry, dig out yer passport, hi viz waistcoat, bit of euro breakdown cover etc and it's done. Sat nav will get you there and back. We go most years and have opened it up (perhaps foolishly ) this year to our local tipec group. Suddenly, we have 17 people on board!

Ferry £40 to £90 depending on time of year (Dover/Dunkirk return, 2 adults and a car). 3 nights b&b circa £200 for 2 sharing. Fuel basically the same as here as is food. What's a lap of the 'Ring at the moment? €26? Euro insurance you probably have. Breakdown cover probably £50 if not already included. Reasonable places to stay in Adenau: Ring Villa, Blau Ecke, Hotel an der Nordschleife. Hi viz vest for France, pound shop.
Guys don't be scared off by Ring stories. If you are driving as you intent (as described above) you have nothing to worry about. It is the guys who chase times that end up in trouble. So long as you apply normal track discipline principles and make good use of your mirrors you have no real risk. To minimise your risk further try going mid week. You can do laps during the day without even seeing another car on track. It is only around 4hours drive from the Ferry so no more excuses 
Have a little convoy drive over and enjoy a lap or two at your own pace. No real organising needed. Hotels and food are very cheap over here. There is plenty to see and do outside of the Ring. Visit Berg Eltz castle, do a wine tour (I can organize this if required), visit the Moselle valley (Cochem, Traben-Trarbach, Zell, Berkastel-Kues to name a few towns); all very close by.
Have a little convoy drive over and enjoy a lap or two at your own pace. No real organising needed. Hotels and food are very cheap over here. There is plenty to see and do outside of the Ring. This thread is in danger of getting confused - going to the Ring is (as said above) easy. There are no excuses. If it's something you've always wanted to do, then cost is irrelevant.
I'm thinking of doing some driving - long weekend - not including the Ring, but maybe an optional euro-circuit.

I'm not fussed about the track-day; it was just an option to go somewhere like Zolder or Folembray/Clastres.Wozzer would you want to do Spain again though? Is it really that good?
I was looking at driving along both banks of the northern Rhein, the B9 on one side, and some other tiny road on the RHS. But traffic is the unknown.

.I've driven quite lot through Europe, but Spain is by far (for me at least) the finest country for its combination of traffic free, great tarmac, beautiful scenery and twisty roads.
As long as you dont head there in August, everywhere other than the cities and the Costas are pretty much traffic free.
I came back from Northern Spain last July after a week, and we all agreed it was the best trip yet driving around the mountains, and we have been driving/riding the roads of the Pyrenees for over 10 years.
Driving in the UK will never be the same again. In fact you'll hate every minute of it whem you get back.
