Hi everyone I need your opinions!
I'm getting a new car next month and I can't decide what to get! I want something small and relatively quick thats not going to be really expensive to run. I've got these four cars in mind so far :
Ford fiesta st (mk5)
Mini cooper s
Peugeot 207 Gt
Renault Clio 182
Cheers!

If it were my money, 182 or Cooper S.
207 a bit st (IMO)
Mk5 ST is a bit slow.

Cooper S if I were you. I assume you're going for the s'charged one. If so, be careful, earlier models are prone to a bit of rust, a 2005/6 S is best, I believe these also come with a better gearbox (someone correct me if I am wrong). Just be warned, RFL is ~£500 p/a

Great car

Tax on my 2005 JCW Mini is £285 a year - no mini is higher than that

Mini Cooper S. Without a shadow of doubt. I have a 2012 one and it has been brilliant fun biggrin

Looks like I'm leaning towards the MCs then... I've been reading that the earlier 2002-2004 MCs get more mpg than the 2005/6 ones, is that true?

Have you sat in any of them?
Had a test drive in any of them?

What did you think?

Surprising that someone hasn't. The MX5 worshipers must all be out on a drive right now, they'll be back soon - in force.

Unless he wants to go really fast in which case he should get a remapped 330D, right?

My choice would be the MINI or the Clio. Check out this recent thread:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

As I said in the above thread, the driving position in the Clio seems to be based on an Orangutan so that may make the decision for you.

Other way around.

My R53 had ~17% pulley, intercooler and a cat back, RR'd 185bhp@wheels and was lucky to see 27mpg on a run.

Best looking? Subjective but IMO:

1) Renault Clio 182
2) Mini cooper s
3) Ford fiesta st (mk5)
4)Peugeot 207 Gt

Best handling?

1) Renault Clio 182
2) Mini cooper s
3) Ford fiesta st (mk5)
4)Peugeot 207 Gt

Quickest in a straight line?

1) Renault Clio 182
2) Mini cooper s
3) Ford fiesta st (mk5)
4)Peugeot 207 Gt

Cheapest to run?

1) Renault Clio 182
2) Peugeot 207 Gt
3) Ford fiesta st (mk5)
4) Mini cooper s

Cheers guys, I think its definitely going to have to be either the mini or clio. I think I'll have to just test drive both and see which I prefer smile
