Motor industry "expert" selling very rare 944...
Discussion
"Hi. I'm very interested in your 924. However I have heard that along with early "Boxters" the coil packs often go. As clearly the car must be 100% rust free, all I want to know is that the coil packs are good...I'm particularly interested in cylinders 5 and 6. I don't really know what I am looking for, so a professional of your self-proclaimed expertise should easily be able to find these and send me a picture...if all is well we have a deal!"

I've always preferred the 944 myself. The 944 to go for is the one with the later 3.8 litre six cylinder Porsche engine also fitted to the 928 and even more recently in early Cayennes too.
Actually, my 986 has the same engine as the early run of the 918 Spyder. Whilst driving, if I want hybrid power for an e-pass, I turn a small switch with a Porsche logo on it, the one on the dash to the right of the steering wheel which has a leather tag on it so you don't get confused with the light switch. A small electric motor engages with the starter ring and bingo, hybrid power. In town, I can go all electric, simply by disconnecting all 12 plug leads from the flat 10 diesel, and turning the same switch. Range is only about 1/4 of a mile though. I've not heard back from the seller yet, but I'd consider paying the asking price for that car given the incredible amount of work needed to convert it to a Boxster engine.
I'll be sure to post a thread if I do buy it. Must be the first 924 with a flat-6, and I'm sure I'll need some help as there might be issues with the electrics, transmission, possibly many other areas of concern.
