Gahh, scratched my first alloy
Discussion
At the ripe old age of 42 I yesterday scuffed my first alloy on a high kerb. What a dreadful feeling and sound.
Nothing major, just marks along the rim. Perhaps this is a daft question but has the surface of the wheel been compromised with regard to rain and salt and is there any sealant I should consider?
BMW in case that makes a difference to their susceptibility to be affected by ingress.
Thanks
Pauly

Interesting question. It had never occurred to me that a lightly kerbed alloy might be more prone to failure due to corrosion.
For what it's worth, our Octavia's wheels are kerbed to buggery (from before we had the car) and seem fine as far as I can tell. So were the wheels on my old Corrado.

I bought some AMG's for my MB CLS last year.
two need refurbing and so got them done ready for the summer drive down to Spain.
First French toll my Wife complained she couldn't reach.
Second French toll....and that horrible raking scratchy grinding noise was my feedback.
It was 'what the hell', spilled milk etc., after that and got it refurbed again when I got home.
