VXR8 gearbox in a Monaro VRX
Discussion
If you have deep pockets one of these:
Tick Performance TR6060 in a T56 housing
I've got one in my Monaro and they are brilliant.

Yes, I have looked at Tick Performance TR6060 in a T56 housing.
Did you get it shipped from the states or are there UK suppliers?
Monkfish did the ordering and arranging the delivery etc. I don't think Tick had the ability to ship to the UK so MF used their usual transport method. Was completely seamless from my point of view - I just saw a large bill once it was all fitted and working Did you get it shipped from the states or are there UK suppliers?

Just rebuild standard box thats plenty good enough , we had 4 figures of Bhp through one and never had a prob .
Dont waste your money
There's no doubt they are strong, but the more modern units do have much improved shift mechs, and the later Magnum versions also much stronger gearsDont waste your money
So it isnt all about strength. If spending a load...sometimes the upgrade in terms of shift niceties...will be worth it even if you dont need the strength
Early ones are also poor with the 2 piece laygear/cluster...this leaves 5th gear drive relatively weak...although to date mine has always been fine. But when you take them apart, it's clear to see why this is a potential weak spot. I'm amazed mine hasnt broke.
Tremec should by now have their drop in T56 Magnum on sale....I do say should though. This should make it cheaper than the likes of Tick or the other built up versions.
I last enquired about 5-6 months ago and they said early 2015 it should be ready for sale. Have just sent them another email.

Other "strong" T56 options are the RSG Tranzilla range, these have stronger gears as well as triple cone synchros..plus a few ratio options.
Personally I like the tall 6th gear though, so none of them would appeal to me. But for what they are, they are quite reasonably priced indeed.

The only issue with repairing the older boxes...as they get older, some parts simply arent available anymore.
Or I see PWP list standard new T56's in stock...pricey for what they are though

If its come out of the states I doubt you will struggle for any bits for these boxes for the next 20 yrs
Theres still loads about for muncies , saginaws , richmonds etc & look at the age of them
I made some changes to my box last year. Things like input shafts, some gears...just werent available.Theres still loads about for muncies , saginaws , richmonds etc & look at the age of them
Tremec dont make them anymore, so any there are will be either old stock, or some aftermarket companies make some parts....quality, no idea.
I've even seen people say they've struggled to source mainshafts.
Parts are not as readily available as you'd think.
And even within the T56 name, there have been various internal changes over the years too.
My Camaro type T56 is completely different to say a Monaro/GTO box. Gears, shafts, synchros etc, they're all different
