Just thought I would start this now as we have had our first speculator comments for cars offered for sale before being confirmed, ordered, specified etc. at above list.

So when will there be a GT4 for sale at £100k+ ???

All depends on total numbers produced and whether there are 2016 cars and PDK and an RS etc.

My guess would be for early 2017.

I love this forum sometimes..all about bloody valuesrolleyes Surely too many variables to tell.

How about a thread about GT4s on track or how great a road trip would be in one?

About one tenth of those for 991GT3s.

Did anyone mention deviated stitching or coloured wheel centres or smoked rear lights or front lift ........

I think you are all letting avarice get the better of you here!

AP said they will make more GT4 than GT3, so it wont be quite as limited, and thus values may yet go down. Don't read too much into that one advert - there is always a dealer somewhere selling the latest thing above RRP before anybody can get one, but that is a long way off suggesting prices will go up like GT3.

This is a greedy little forum - lets focus on how good the car is, and what spec people are thinking of ordering.

Won't happen ever, looks a fantastic car no doubt, but no one is ever going to pay £100k for a Cayman.

That's more than a gen 2 997 GT3, and as good a car the GT4 might be it won't be that good.

Besides this won't be as limited as people keep saying, I expect they will make plenty.

I would be livid if i had a depo down on a GT4 and missed the cut, only to see others punting them straight on for a big profit. Car manufacturers should have a foolproof way to stop this happening.

But people are paying £40K over retail for a 991 GT3? I hate to get dragged into speculation over prices but I see every possibility of a £100K Cayman during its initial release. It's not a huge leap, a £75K car going to £100K. What else do you buy, a 5 year old 997 Gen2 GT3? Doesn't sound such bad value to me when you make that comparison.

Actually, I've just bought a Gen2 GT3 to use while I wait (hopefully) for the GT4. Collecting next week. I'll happily tell you what I think when I get the GT4. Personally, I'll be disappointed if the GT4 isn't as good.

Yes - make more cars so that customers can buy them! wink

That will be an interesting comparison to read when you get it, I'll look forward to a real worl comparison from someone who's not a journo in Porsches pocket.

What's the spec and colour of the GT3 your picking up?

It's a white 997 Gen 2 in comfort spec, lift, pcm, cruise....a few other bits and bobs I can't recall. 20k miles, 1 owner, 12months Porsche warranty. Hoping to collect next week.

I had no intention getting another car between selling the GT2 and getting the GT4, but even if I get one, looks like it'll be 6 months off.

Should track GT3 prices imo say a nice GT4 is £74k and a nice GT3 is £115k the gap should remain the same on prices imo

so to that end spec for spec should track at £40k below the 991 GT3.

the GT4 looks to be way more fun, I don't think of it like a Cayman, that's a big mistake when you look a the evo Vid, think of it more like a GT3 with out the rear seats. GT3 shocks, ball bearing top mounts, forged fuchs wheels, GT3 steering, 918 seats, Adjustable control arms, you can even corner weight it.

look at this vid, it's dull as dish water, it's Porsches GTR, a fast lapper nothing more imo, I would be board of it quite quick and in fact don't even want one.
People like them for the speed, I don't see what else they offer, jurno's like them as they can jump in it and be like Lewis.

now look at this vid !
http://youtu.be/CvDD8V9Liq8

Driving a PDK is dull as dishwater, flatters the driver, which I guess people want, but it's F**king dull.

the GT4 is about interacting with the car ,it looks like a machine and there is nothing else on the market like it. it's a very exciting car to me.

Porsche were forced to build the 991 GT3 for speed, they did that, they have now room for the GT4 which is the drivers car.

to quote every ones fav Walter >-)

"The GT4 is a perfect handling car, it’s a proper race car with a mid-engine. Lets say on a twisty mountain road, like in the Alps, I’m sure you’re in the right car if you’re in a GT4."

he then goes on to say , "yes at the ring the GT3 is faster so the better car, but if you want fun driving the GT4 is a fantastic car."

key word in there is "FUN"

So in the first sentence let us know that a 981 GT4 is a 991 GT3 without rear seats and then you proceed to tell us that a 1340kg 981 GT4 is closer to a 700kg SWB 911 with perspex windows in terms of "driver interaction" than to a 1430kg 991 GT3 with better power to weight ratio?
Because of the gearbox!?
I don't even know where to begin. Baffling what putting money down on a car will do to some people. (unless you are a professional forum troll - I cannot tell?)

yes I cannot abide auto's for fun, I feel board stless in them, don't have to have driven 1 car in particular to know this.

I drove the 458S and yes it was awesome for a go, but it's still an auto and less involving and I would hanker after doing all the things the guy in the 2nd vid is doing after a few months.

What is funny is, it was you guys slating the GTR at launch for being a playststion car then you guys go and buy one just with another badge on it.

you could not make this st up I tell you :-p

Who is 'you guys'??

1. I've never made such comments about the GTR
2. No one credible is claiming that the GT3 is anything like the (heavy) 4-wheel drive GTR

I guess you need to justify your choice to yourself somehow..
