Garage broke my car :(
Discussion
Hi!
So, I got an e92 m3 (2008) about 4 weeks ago, I took it to a mainstream regional garage that advertises Tyre fitting, 4 wheel tracking, Servicing etc, The garage shall remain unnamed for the moment.
Where the customer's sit there's a monitor that displays how much your tracking is out etc, He proceeded to select e46 m3 variant in the software to which I had to knock on the glass and inform them it was an e92 m3, The alarm bells ringing at this point I wish I'd listened too!
Rears changed, Tracking done, Off I go.. Take it out for a spin it doesn't feel right and I can hear a slight humming from the backend more-so as I speed up and the noise slowed down as I slowed down, So I took it back the next day, They check the tracking and 3 wheels were miles out, off the scale out. so they scratched their head for a while and couldn't say much, Told me if noise persists take it to BMW, Even though it wasn't there before they did tyres/tracking.
Off I went to a BMW indy which were really helpful whom diagnosed the issue on the invoice as:
''Found the nearside camber arm adjustment tab broken, and found the arms had been over adjusted causing the arms to hit the sub frame of the vehicle''
''Replaced the nearside damaged arm''
''Performed 4 wheel tracking''
Parts £193, Labour £97, VAT £58 - £349 total repair bill
I have photo's of the damage the garage caused, Do I have something to go on? I'd like a full refund for the 4 wheel tracking (£70) plus a full reimbursement of £349 for the repair bill.
Kind regards,
H

In your position, I would be seeking exactly the same although I would have got a refund for the tracking the first time I went back.
I'm not sure, but in some of these cases there is the expectation that the garage allegedly at fault should have the chance to rectify the problem, themselves, rather than pay (reimburse) the customer to get it rectified elsewhere.
In your case, you say you went back and they said take it to BMW. Therefore, I would argue they had that chance.

They will sort this very quickly I expect, open and shut case.
Thanks for the responses guys, I will be sending them a letter this week.
I couldn't have asked the garage to repair it themselves as they don't do diagnostics/engine work etc only brakes, tracking, tyre's that's about it.
Hopefully they'll remedy the situation, I'll update the thread let you know how it goes.
Cheers
mod edit; No naming and shaming
