Hello again chaps, I've made it in & out of Hospital for a heart valve replacement and I find myself on Day 3 of my recuperation (meaning I can't do anything in the garage) out of 6 weeks and I'm bored already.

HELP !!!

Glad to hear all went OK Richard.

I'd be putting years of paperwork disorder to order first.

Then, given rapid recovery, I'd sort the garage, loft, outbuildings etc. Any excuse to thin out/declutter!

Given that you should rest, I'd start watching TV again and reaffirm my belief that 99% is utter garbage.

You could find my daughter a career and a job, yep, make that your first restful task wink

Take it easy and get yourself fit first. A laptop, and Amazon account are your friend. I spent over 2 years in hospital and built up a huge DVD library in that time smile

Thanks Chaps, I have a pressie arriving in a few weeks to give me something to get done before the Summer season proper, having a goal should be useful to help me through.

The way I see it is you have 2 options to curb the cravings.

If you're feeling flush and fancy spending I couple of quid there's this http://www.ministeam.com/acatalog/conley-models.ht...

Or if you're on a budget http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=...

Either way I wish you a speedy recovery so you can return to the drivers seat where you belong.

Thanks again chaps for all the suggestions and advice.
Daz - surely my car would be too slow for you !
Mike - the beard has already gone, I couldn't compete with your last experimentation with facial hair !

I'm really not much of a reader but do have a couple of books to have a go at and am being taken to a model shop today by my wife who is now getting a bit pissed off with my moaning of boredom.

If anyone is in my neck of the woods, at any time and fancies a cuppa, please feel free to pop in. I can make a cup of tea / coffee / chocolate etc. as long as I don't overfill the kettle ! Pathetic, isn't it ?

Modelling, what a great idea.

buy a proper radio controlled car in kit form.

If you fancy the idea, go to a place that specialises in them.

If not, there are so many brilliant models to choose from.

If it was me, I'd build an RC glider, something I had a passion for years ago.

Good luck with the recovery and don't forget that job for my daughter wink

Catwalk, swimsuit or full-on glamour?

Enjoy the rest and recuperation while it lasts - you'll soon be back 'on it'! thumbup

Really glad to hear your doing well Richard.

If you can't drive fast in real life - may I suggest you get yourself a games console to amuse yourself?

Or if you ever enjoyed Lego as a Child - you get something to play Minecraft on - is great way to eat huge amounts of time - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4KfyPrguXI

Peter - I'd have thought your daughter looking for a career and Lord Grovers take on the definition on modelling would seem quite a feasible combination ! Apart from having obvious catwalk potential what are her skill sets ?

I've now rekindled my interest in my somewhat abandoned model railway (don't all laugh at once !) and am setting about making some buildings etc.

Thanks again for all your replies.
