Rolling diameter difference

The standard set up on Chims....well there are several.
My car came with 205/55 15 front and 225/50 16 rears
That's 606mm front and 631mm rear rolling diameter. 25mm (one inch) difference
Your proposal is 603mm front and 619mm rear, 16mm difference, so 9mm different to standard, which is half the 8mm tread depth of a new tyre.
In other words, not enough of a difference to bother you, so should be ok.
In theory your speedo will read 1mph faster at 70 mph.....if you can even read it that accurately at that speed!
One question - what width wheels are you using? 7J? 7.5J?

As a footnote, you can play about with the numbers all day, for example if you take the original fronts fitted to this chassis (what the rolling chassis was designed for) then you get:-

It is the Dare DR-STR which is 17x7.5My car came with 205/55 15 front and 225/50 16 rears

Nice inexpensive tyres, and I find they are as good on track as Toyo R888s, as they give more feel when close to the limit of adhesion - I have stopped having spins since fitting them.
I also like them on the road, as they have plenty of grip but can deal with a damp surface. Not recommended in really wet conditions, so depends on when and where you use the car.
They have a fairly low load index (mine are 83 front and 87 rear) so that means more flexible sidewalls, which in turn means that they offset the lower profile you have with 17 inch wheels and gives you a more comfortable ride.
You want 595 RS-Rs, by the way. There are about three different versions of 595s, so choose the right one.
There is an often reported issue with them - you can end up with a shallow crack across the tread. I have had this on my rears, not my fronts. It seems to happen and then stay the same, and doesn't seem to cause any issues, but is quite alarming when you first see it.

I bought the tyres off a friend, so I have 215/40 on the front and 215/45 on the rear - no choice, they were what i was offered. what size did you go for?

I think the fronts are fine, you could go for 215/45 fronts if you like. The rears should be fine, as the Federals are not as square shouldered, or oversized, as Toyo 888s. I say that because I have had issues with 235/40 18 Toyos catching on the arches. They are the same rolling diameter as the ones you suggest, as near as damn it.
Are you on standard Bilsteins, or after market adjustable dampers?

I've just been looking around at prices and R1R's aren't too bad and from what i'm reading might be better for road use (it will mainly be road). I'll have a proper look later and see what prices I can get and sizes
I've got Gaz Monos
R1Rs will have better wet grip, better all around grip. I've got Gaz Monos
The Monos will adjust enough to clear any catching issues with the 235 rears, I believe.

You will feel the road surface more with Federal RSR 595`s tyres .
Federal 235`s are wider than my Falken 245`s
If you are driving mainly on the road why not go for Toyo R1R`s
