So I've just had a shiny new computer built so I can run Assetto Corsa with a sim I built. My old computer just wasn't up to powering the game. Anyway, so to log in on a new computer needed the password, which as it's saved on the program, is easily forgotten.

I tried to find it out in Steam but the only way would be to use the 'lost account' method, so I logged out on my old computer and then tried to log back in but used the lost account button to send me an email to reset it. I've done this before and it's was perfectly straight forward. However, this time, no verification email? Tried changing settings in my email account and checked junk mail. Nothing. Tried again. Nothing. Tried sending a request to Steam via the support area and they require a key. Yet all the keys for the games are in the steam account I logged off from. I only ever purchased one DVD Game, but not entirely sure where that is as I don't play it much and the DVD wasn't required to play it.

Despite me emailing them as well as the standard request I've not heard anything back anyway other than the normal automated email saying that they've received my request. How come that can arrive in my inbox yet the verification code can't???? Grrrr!

Are there any ways around this so I can access my games? Since now in locked out of everything! Or is Steam actually this useless?

Got the right email address that the account was created with?

I think that might be the issue if you're not receiving anything.

When I built my current computer it was painless.

Yeah, I checked the email address was right before I logged out. I've also reset the password once before using that email address.
