Initial thought before I looked closely was Maserati.

It certainly looks a lot better from the front, but the back still looks pretty dire.

Hideous. Like a 1990s Eclipse.

Is that really a Toyota restyle? It looks like a render/drawing done by a student with time on their hands.

It's always been a pretty awkward looking thing, somehow contriving to look effete and not at all planted, and that restyle does nothing at all to help. The nasty rear remains, especially the swage (sp?) lines over the rear wheel arches, and that silly detail ahead of the door mirrors is still there.

The front now reminds me of the Mitsubishi FTO, which wouldn't be such a bad thing if this was still 1996.

Not nearly as nice as the original.

It looks like they've kind of gone for a softer, more elegant and perhaps more classical design. Whereas the current model is angular and aggressive. I don't entirely dislike it.

And I have to say...I actually really like the instrument cluster. The white dials and new type face give it a kind of retro look. Wonder if I could swap it into mine... smile

The front looks like a cross between a Porsche Cayenne and a first gen Jag XK8.

Well the common concensus would appear to be not a success then!

I had my hopes up there would be some swappable parts from the rear end - like a decent bootlid and some nice lights.

But they've left the ugliest bit alone...

At least they've put fitting wheels on this time.
