Insurance help please !!

Is there a time limit to claim against someone else's insurance? Daughter was parked outside her Grans and the next door neighbour reversed into it, not much damage, dent and scrape, now for one reason or another we haven't done anything about it which was we think 4/5 months ago, at the time he said he would pay for it himself or go through insurance depending on cost. Been to see him and now he's said, no chance of insurance company wanting to know because of the time gone by, although he's admitted it. Car is a year old Mini Cooper

Go have a chat with him again but secretly record him admitting fault. Be much easier then lol.You have 6 years to make a claim against him (Statute of Limitations). After that you cannot commence legal proceedings as your claim is time-barred, but his insurers would expect him to report it to them rather sooner than that!
Having said that cover for third party property damage is now compulsory so I don't see how they could refuse to deal with your claim.
If he won't report it you need to try to find out who his insurers are and contact them direct.
Good luck anyway - shame we don't copy many European countries and require evidence of insurance to be displayed in the windscreen as it would make life much easier in this sort of scenario.
