Commuting and fun car in 1

My commute is 15 miles each way, mainly backroads with a small bit of city driving (only the odd queue). I'm looking for a car that can be placid when I can't be bothered, but opens up when I want a jolly on the way home or at the weekends.
I've owned a few Z4's and they fit the bill, apart from the aweful tramlining (even with runflats gone), the Z4M was a great drive, I'd consider an other. I've looked at 987's, 05 on. I suppose with that the budget is set at around £13k. Obviously a Z4 Si is considerably cheaper, that'd be fine too.
I'd like a 'vert, all of my Z4's were and I really enjoyed it.
Bottom line is, it's needs to be able to just go every morning, but put a smile on my face when I want it to.
